The Right Colour Choice Makes A Difference. RMC Build's Master Builders Win Proves It

Award Winning Timber Look Aluminium RMC Build Master Builders Awards 2026

Colour choice doesn’t always get the credit it deserves. It’s not the structural decision, it’s not the layout, it’s not the thing that makes it onto a mood board first. But on a high-end custom build, it’s often the thing that makes everything else land.

RMC Build’s Kingscliff project, Kingy Endless Summer, just won the 2026 Master Builders NSW Contract Home of the Year, Taree to Tweed Heads in the $2M-$3M category. Big Congratulations to them, its an amazing achievement!

It’s a coastal home designed to capture ocean views and sit naturally in its environment. And one of the decisions that shaped the finished result was a colour call made early: go darker, warmer, and richer than the original brief.

We supplied the timber look aluminium for the ceiling cladding, screens, battens, fences and gates. Here’s how that decision played out, and what it means for your own build.

The brief: coastal, but not washed out

Kingscliff is a coastal town on the far north coast of NSW. Ocean views, salt air, natural light. The design brief was to complement that environment, not fight it, and not disappear into it either.

When RMC Build came to us, a lighter sandy tone was on the table for the aluminium. It made sense on paper. Coastal project, pale palette, keep it soft.

We suggested they think about Brown Oak instead.

Not because lighter tones are wrong, they’re not, but because this particular project had natural stone and white cladding already in the mix. Put a pale aluminium alongside both of those and the facade risks reading flat. Everything blends into the same washed-out tone and you lose the depth that makes a facade feel considered.

Brown Oak gave the project an anchor. It pulled warmth into the palette, gave the stone something to connect with, and created a contrast against the white cladding that made both materials look more intentional. The result is a facade that feels layered and current without trying too hard.

“Amazing Product it added so much value to the property.”

What Eurowood supplied

Every Eurowood product on the Kingy Endless Summer project was specified in Brown Oak, one finish carried consistently across:

  • Aluminium cladding — used across the project as a key facade and feature element. Used on the soffits accross the outdoor cover areas as a key feature element.
  • Two-part Snaploc screening — click-in installation, no visible fixings, clean finish straight off the install
  • Fencing and gates — same finish carried through to the full site boundary

That consistency matters more than it might seem. When the cladding, screening, fencing, and gates all share the same colour and profile, the building doesn’t stop at the front door. The material language holds all the way to the fence line. For a project being judged at this level, that kind of cohesion is exactly what separates a considered build from one that looks assembled from different suppliers.

Why the install worked

The two-part Snaploc system is designed to go up quickly and finish cleanly. No visible screws. No welding. No joins showing through the finish. For a builder working to a tight programme on a high-end custom home, that means less time on site and nothing to apologise for at handover.

The Brown Oak powdercoat finish is consistent across every Eurowood product category, so what goes on the ceiling reads the same as what goes on the fence. That’s not something you can always assume when you’re sourcing from multiple suppliers.

What this means for your build

If you’re planning a coastal home, or any project where you want the finish to hold up to serious scrutiny, colour choice in your aluminium is worth more attention than it usually gets.

A deeper, warmer timber tone does things a lighter tone can’t. It adds depth. It anchors the palette. It gives natural materials like stone something to work against. And when it’s carried consistently across every aluminium element on the site, it makes the whole project feel resolved.

RMC Build backed the recommendation. The result won them a Master Builders NSW award.

A batten is a strip of material, which is used in construction
When multiple timber battens are used together in a series, they create a linear effect that adds texture, dimension and rhythm to a facade or interior.

Timber battens can be cut and crafted individually, or installed as a prefabricated and modular system. They can be used indoors or out to assist with privacy, sun and light control, visibility and acoustics, while adding a hefty dash of style.

Classified as a non-combustible construction material, aluminium is not flammable, but will melt when subjected to temperatures above 600°C. However, this meltdown does not release harmful gases into the air and is in fact, calculated to allow heat and smoke to escape from a burning structure, resulting in less structural damage.
